Sun Bathing

No, not me!

But those kitty cats sure do like it!

If you live in the Pacific Northwest you know that you grab it when you can.

The best place to soak up a little sun in the afternoon is the kitchen table.

Especially when Mom doesn't let you outside.

On another note, if you're in the Portland area this week-end be sure to stop by Monticello.

They are celebrating their 12th Anniversary.

There is a storewide sale which will run through Monday.

Hope you have a wonderful week-end!

~Make Over~

Can I cry?

I woke up this morning and wanted to change one little thing from last nights post only to find everything from last night was gone!

So, I'm starting over again.

This week-end I purchased an old bench from an estate sale and boy was it heavy!

Thankfully I have two guys to help load all those heavy pieces I seem to purchase.

When we went to pick it up I started having my regrets.

It wasn't looking as promising as I had hoped.

Here is the picture I sent my #1 showing him the "fabulous" piece we were going to pick up on Sunday.

He was less then enthused to say the least.

This piece needed a lot of TLC.

After all it was a man's workbench, dirty and grimy.

Yesterday was a beautiful day to jump in full force and start working on this piece.

I love the result.

I think it would make a wonderful garden bench for the avid gardener.

My #1 was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Especially because he didn't need to do a thing with it.

It's pretty amazing what a little TLC will do.

Vintage Finds

Wow, two posts in one week. That hasn't happened in a long time.

I thought I'd do a quick post and show you a few items I found this past weekend.

I need to get things packed up and put away.

It was a good weekend for treasure hunting. We found a lot of wonderful items.

The thing I got the most excited about though was...

IRONSTONE!

Wonderful pieces of Ironstone!

I was fortunate to get into quite a few pieces.

You know how it is. You pull up to a house, analyze it...is it run down, new neighborhood, newly remodeled etc...

Well, that's what I did with this one.

I didn't think I would find a thing.

It was a well kept home, it looked to have been updated.

When I walked into the kitchen though, my heart skipped a beat!

Ironstone...lots of Ironstone!

One of the reasons I was so excited is because this ironstone had my favorite mark on it.

I don't know why I like that mark, but I do and I've collected many pieces of it.

I also love the age spots that come with these wonderful vintage pieces.

There's just something about it!

I also found two wire baskets, possibly French so I was told by the owner's mother.

So, what I've learned again..."You can't judge a book by its cover!"

Have a great week!

Being that Mother's Day will be here before you know it, I wanted to get a few new items in the shop.

Here are a few things I put together.

Rosemary in little white containers, with a little vintage paper.

I saw this on Pinterest and loved it!

I also made up a few pillows.

So if you're in the neighborhood and need a special gift for mom be sure to stop by.

There are so many wonderful things to see at Monticello.

I'm linking up this week with Kathleen for White Wednesday.

Thank you for stopping by.

Where Have You Been, And What Happened?

The sky is blue...the sun is shining and I'm loving this weather!

This week-end was a long, extended week-end for me.

We had conferences at school so I was off work Wednesday and Thursday.

I was busy, but a good busy.

Everything was great till Sunday morning...I went to the car, opened up the passenger side only to see my glove compartment opened...ugh!

I've seen that before.

My GPS...my blue tooth headset...my favorite vintage sunglasses....and if you can believe it a pack of gum were taken.

Not the best way to start off the day.

So, now the hunt begins for a new GPS...which will not be left in the car!

Other than that, the week-end was good.

One of the things I did was go to the Salvation Army. That's not a store I unusually hit but I was glad I did.

One of the things I found was a very large old picture frame, with a cheap poster inside.

I wanted it for the frame.

When I got home I happily discovered another picture on the back.

A very old oil painting.

Unfortunately, someone had taken a knife to it, why they did that I do not know.

I didn't care though because from what I could see, it looked beautiful.

So I waited for my #1 to come home so he could remove it from the frame.

Unfortunately, they had glued the top of the canvas to the poster and I couldn't save that.

But I love it in all it's shabby beauty.

I can't seem to find out anything about it.

I was hoping someone possibly knows something about the artist or the painting.

I'd love to hear from you.

So now I'm enjoying this unexpected surprise.

Oh yes, in case you want to see the picture frame...

Here it is...

it was a fun find too!
